Civic Learning in Action: Connecting Students to Community

Strong communities depend on informed, engaged citizens—and that starts with meaningful civic education. This work connects students directly to local government and community leadership, helping them understand how decisions are made, how systems function, and where they can contribute. Aligned with the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness, this initiative provides a critical service to our districts by creating real opportunities for students to apply their learning through civic action.

This effort also depends on strong partnerships with our municipal and county leaders. By working together, we can open doors for students to explore essential community roles—from volunteer fire and EMS to law enforcement, public works, and planning boards—ensuring the next generation sees opportunity, responsibility, and purpose right here in Wyoming County.
